Drilled out torso joint holes

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hey everyone, I'm somewhat new to the figure modding hobby(been doing some light stuff for ages, but trying to get into more advanced fully custom stuff lately), and I recently acquired a random box of parts to mess with, and one thing in the box was a torso that's had the shoulder joint holes completely drilled out. It's an odd thing to see, as it would seem to make the torso useless, but I was wondering if there's a way to fill it back in and create some new joints to which arms could be attached? A certain type of clay that isn't very sticky, perhaps? Or should I just follow my first instinct and pitch this part into the recycling bin?

You could also try finding a compatible revoltech joint set on eBay.

Or like Darththomas said use magnets. You can buy small neodymium ones online. Sand the area lightly where you want to attach the magnets so glue will stick. Use super glue with the rubber in it or an epoxy glue.

If you wrap the arm joints in Teflon tape you can fill the holes in the torso with a 2 part epoxy putty without it sticking. Put some Vaseline on your fingers to keep the epoxy from sticking and smooth it out. Insert the arms. Then dip a paint brush in water and use it to to remove fingerprints. Wait for it to dry. Remove the Teflon and it should swivel around freely in the new joint hole.

There's always a way or a use , how about the smaller Lego barrels, you know the ones that fit inside the holes in the long bars? Terrible at describing things 🤣..... These? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255881471626 ... media=COPY

Hmmmm? Magnets maybe. Perhaps it's just me but as a customizer I throw nothing away, you never know when you might need an armless torso

I kinda see where you're going with that one... Unfortunately I've never SEEN magnets small enough to fit, so I'm prolly gonna rip my hair out trying to pursue that option(the smallest magnets I've ever seen are a set of little neodymium magnets I have on my desk, and they're bigger around than those Lego barrel parts you mentioned before). Might be worth looking into, though.

Lego is great for stuff like that, use the barrel type pieces and the thin rod things, I did a video on this on YouTube, dunno if the link will work but just search "adding extra arms using Lego" if it doesn't. https://www.youtu.be/rVwJrYSapek

Not a viable option. I kinda failed to mention that the torso in question is a 1:18/3.75-inch size deal. Can't drill out enough to make that fit.
