Steel (DC Super Heroes (Mattel)) Review
Steel
DC Super Heroes (Mattel) (Mattel)Has there ever been a bad-looking Steel figure? No, never. And this DCSH version is the best so far!

Steel stands 6.5 inches tall, in-scale with the other DCSH figures. I thought this fig would just be a repainted Superman but the muscles are larger and it has sculpted armor on the boots and some bolts on the stomach, the basic color-scheme is flat-silver and dark gun-metal. The rivets and armor plates look great.

-He has a rubbery belt with two "boxes" on either side. They have flexible ribbed hoses that connect to the top-side of the boots. Is this his flight-system? I don't remember Steel ever wearing this belt, but then again I've only seen him a few times in comics so what do I know :} I think he would look better without it though.

-The left forearm has that big manacle-thing he wears that shoots missiles and lasers and whatnot. It's neat because it spins independently from the hand so it works sort of like a gattling-gun; it's also nicely detailed.

-The hands are both in a semi-fist so Steel can hold the giant hammer in either one. And I mean a HUGE hammer! It's taller than he is! Thor would be jealous. It has exposed circuitry in the upper-handle area and fits snugly in Steel's grap. It would have been cool if they made the handle telescopic, but you can't ask for too much can you...

-The layered shoulder-pads are detailed with rivets and are flexible so the arms still have a free range of motion.

-The cape is dark-red and nicely shaded. It looks good, even better than the one Superman had!

-A good figure isn't good if the face looks nothing like the character it's based on. Luckily, Steel looks EXACTLY like he's supposed to as far as I can tell. Rivets along the top of the head, ear-covers, and white eyes add to the coolness.

-I thought the S-symbol was going to be painted-on or left-off entirely, but instead the S-symbol is an entirely separate piece of armor glued on to the chest! It looks great, with rivets along the rim, but its so bulky! I mean, Steel looks like he's peeking out from behind it, that's how big it is! I'd rather it have been painted or left off but what are ya' gonna do, eh? The entire piece will be either painted with silver or be chrome-plated! The chrome looks great on display, just don't expect it to hold up to a 6-year-old's attack.

Mr Iron's articulation is as good as the other DCSH figures. The neck is a ball-joint so he can face in any direction. The hands can swivel so the hammer can be held in all sorts of menacing positions. He can turn at the waist and has a mid-section hinge to add to the flexibility. Also, the ankles can still move even with all that sculpted armor on them!

I don't think the chrome chest-armor is a rare variant since many people have reported them being plentiful on store-pegs. This and the normal figure may have been packed in equal ratios, another reason to love the DCSH figs!

No, none of my friends kids used to come to my place. I used to hang with some skuzzy people. A few other things were missing too so it was theft. Im more pissed off about the Jesues figure
