Steel DC Super Heroes (Mattel) (Mattel)Let's begin with a back story! (Optional read) Once a year I was allowed a present for christmas under $10 (I know; we were poor). Until I was the age of 14. I bargained. No present for one year, and next year a $20 present. I went one Christmas without a present intent with one figure in mind! DC SUPER HEROES STEEL! (3 months later my cousins thought it'd be cute to bathe him then put him in a sauna...the microwave) I re bought him last year used. He was broken. Left arm in fact. Completely broken off the peg. S piece was off the chest as well (idk how). I did some light work on it. My aunt in the Philippines was a huge superman fan. She got me into dc with my very first comic series! Death of superman. Doomsday. In this story line 4 people step up to the mantle after our brave hero died. My favorite being: STEEL aka John Irons! LET'S GET STARTED! Sculpt John Irons comes with his standard suit shown in various 1990s-ish Dc comics: The Adventures of Superman. This figure looks like it came fresh off the pages of The Adventures Of Superman! His face looks like a humanoid robot's (at least to me it does) it resembles John's face enough to say! Okay...good try Mattel. Really good try. Any takes Hot Toys? No? Kk I'll stick to this one. His basic body seems to be "buffer" than his superman counter-part in the same series. His mold makes him look like a jacked super saiyan man-bot who goes to la fitness 8 days a week. From the signature S he sports on his chest, to the rivet gun clasped around his wrist; the sculpt work on this figure is phenomenal! Rivets pop up where acceptable all along his armor. And omg his cape! There are two major sculpts I wanted to point out: his shoulder pads and the wire that runs down his leg armor. Both are made of a softer pvc plastic that enables (almost) full articulation (75 percent)! Up next! ARTICULATION! He comes with the same classic joints as superman: Ball pegged head (up-down-look-around) Ball pegged shoulder swivel (with butterfly press articulation) Bicep swivel Single-jointed elbows (sculpted to bend <90°) Wrist swivel Ab-crunch Waist swivel Unique DCSH hip/thigh articulation (which btw is great!) Thigh swivel Single jointed knee Single jointed ankle (up/down) no swivel =( Did I get em all? PAINT WORK They did something with his armor...idk what it is. ..it's not...shiny enough? But the paint work is still good enough to simulate shiny metal. I know, I know, die cast armor is too much to ask for Boredamned! Maybe a future custom? Eh? Moving on, the dark grey color for his basic body is pretty comic accurate. It pleases me. His scarlet cape is a perfect contrast to the figure's gray/silver-ish color scheme. Unfortunately, both his hammer, and his belt, are made of a separate rubber material and dull the look of the figure's armor. No biggie! Unless you're a stickler for those kinda things then...you should still get this figure anyways. He also has white light up eyes. No l.e.d.'s just white paint to simulate light up eyes. Good enough! Can I post the pictures now? Only 5? So, how's my first ever review? I'm ecstatic that THEFIGUREREALM took my review virginity! Stay awesome gotham ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
