Conan / Wrarrl Legendary Comic Book Heroes (Marvel Toys) - 2-Packs Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire [This is for Conan]
Because I know someone is going to make the snarky remark, I consider LCBH and Marvel Legends figures the same thing, for reasons that are obvious if you've ever owned a LCBH and ML figure at the same time.
Our barbarous barbarian stands over 6.25 inches and is solidly constructed. This is one of the few Marvel Legends-style figures where the muscles are believable, not some freaky abstract sculpt like Black Panther or Bishop. I thought the hips were going to be gross, but they actually look natural once you straighten-out the legs. Only problems I have with the sculpting is the weak-looking ankles (they're scrawny in comparison to the rest of the body) and the straps sculpted on the right thigh. I wanted a bare-minimum Conan, no extras on him, but we can't be picky...[See More]
He can bend all the way forward but not all the way back because, well, that''s a weird pose anyway, I don''t see why anyone would need him to stand like that It''s also solid, it''s not loose at all, neither is the waist, even after taking the belt off!
Sakura Street Fighter (SOTA) - Round 3 Rated 4.70 stars by Henchmen4Hire This is a pretty generic school-girl figure, Sakura doesn't have any distinctive traits like Guile's hair or Cammy's gauntlets, it's still a fun addition to your collection though.
Sakura is about 5.25 inches tall, but still fully poseable! The likeness to the character is pretty good, but something about it is just off. The figure has great big cat-like eyes, but it's not as cute as the animated picture. The skirt and shirt are flexible like Chin-Li's suit so they don't impeded movement. The paint is kinda messy on this figure, especially on the flexible parts, it'll vary from fig-to-fig of course. Accessories include: 2 heads (screaming and smiling), backpack (functional!), camera, small books, an extra shoe (???), and 5 hands in various positions to show-off her youthful vigor, hah....[See More]
Birdie Street Fighter (SOTA) - Round 4 Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire What the hell...I'm not going to even try to guess what this guy's story is, his appearance alone is enough to buy him.
Birdie is about 7.5 inches tall. He's a beast! He's bulky and huge too, mountainous!, the head looks puny compared to the body. There's a yellow circular-saw blade coming out the top of his head, or maybe it's hair, I don't know but it's cool. He's got a sour expression, but if you don't like it you can always switch it out with the other tongue-wagging version. There is also a switch-blade, necklace, two fists, an open hand, a hand to hold the knife, and a thumbs-up hand, pretty good! The denim effect on the clothes is acceptable, the seams and wrinkles bring it to life. I wish the jacket was removable though, he'd make awesome fodder for customs then. There are rings...[See More]
Chun Li Street Fighter (SOTA) - Round 1 Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Chun-Li stands about 5.75 inches tall, I don't know if that's in-scale with the rest of the figures in this line, but she looks fine on display with them. Thankfully, this figure has a different sculpt than Cammy, it's a much more slender frame, though SOTA still decided to give Chun-Li some, er, "formidable" breasts. The extras in the package include: a set of open hands, a set of fists, and an extra head with that scream of joy she bleats-out after kicking-in a guy's head. Both heads are very anime-ish, with big bright eyes, just as they should be. The detail on the outfit is finely-sculpted, but it looks a little bland because this Lavender version has only white accents, the original Blue version has gold-timmings (this version still has the gold earrings though). The ribbons in...[See More]
Guile Street Fighter (SOTA) - Round 3 Rated 5.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire Guile stands about 6.3 inches tall, a little taller if you count the crazy hair. By the way, how does a soldier get away with having that kind of hair while in the military? By kicking everyone's arse, that's how. The likeness to the character is spot-on of course, this is SOTA making them after all. I like the serious face more than the angry one, it looks a little like John Cena, the wrestler. This is a sturdy figure, feels like it was carved out of a solid block of wood, like T. Hawk. The details are all there, the boots are exceptional! I can't believe how neat the paint-job is despite all that detail, the camo-pattern on the pants looks good too. He's got a tattoo of an American flag on each arm and a few veins to boot. The accessories include the standard interchangeable set: a flat...[See More]
Divebomb Transformers - Energon (Hasbro) - Basic Series Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Divebomb is a little taller than 4-inches in robot-mode, he falls somewhere between a Scout and Deluxe-class TF. Knowing nothing about TF history, I can't say if DB is accurately designed, but I bought it anyway based on pure coolness factor. I mean, he's a hawk that transforms into a ninja! How can you not buy this for $7.99! Assuming you can find it at that price of course (if you can find it at all!). The color-scheme is a lot nicer than the clashing colors of many of the other TFs in the Energon series, and all the white made me surprised this guy is a Decepticon. Divebomb also comes packaged along with a snap-on piece of clear green Energon that can attach to the chest. The "feathers" in the wings are also clear-green and so is the cool weapon he has! It's hard to describe, but DB...[See More]
ooo I forgot about him being made! Hmm makes me rethink the making of all the Preds to combine. . . .
Bulkhead Transformers - Energon (Hasbro) - Ultra Class Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Don't crucify me die-hard TF fans, but I'm not too sure what size an "Ultra-Class" Transformer is supposed to be, but it looks slightly larger than a Voyager-Class, which is what I'm familiar with. The point is, no matter what size our friend Bulkhead is, he's a top-class figure.
Bulkhead stands about 7.5 inches tall, which is a pretty good size for the originally $25 retail price. Size alone isn't why I bought this guy though, despite being called BULK-head, he's not too bulky at all. I like a TF that can actually move and be posed well because it's not restricted by huge battery-packs or "action features". Also, he's wearing a visor and he has a sweet mustache! What's not to love! I also like how the Autobot symbol is boldly displayed on his chest, like hey, I'm an Autobot, you got a...[See More]
Ironhide Transformers - Movie (Hasbro) - Voyager Class Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire This is definitely the TF to get out of all the Movie Transformers made so far. He will not disappoint you!
Ironhide is almost 7 inches tall and looks awesome, which is everything I can hope for in a Voyager-Class TF. He's not 100% movie-accurate of course, but it looks great nonetheless. The main problem being that since he's almost completely black, a lot of the detail of the sculpting is muted. There are copper and silver-blue areas, but they don't help much. Maybe some silver-gray high-lights would have helped, to give him that tattered appearance because he is supposed to be a veteran warrior after all. The huge cannon (seriously, it's ridiculously huge!) can break into 2 to store one on each side of the truck (or place a piece on each arm in robot-mode). They're designed to look...[See More]
Brawl Transformers - Movie (Hasbro) - Leader Class Rated 4.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire A big tank is nice to have, but you're definitely going to be displaying this Brawl in robot-mode 99% of the time!
Now, I don't know where people are getting 11.5 inch-tall Movie Leader Brawls, but the one I bought is a little over 8.5 inches-tall to the top of the head and almost 12 inches to the top of those long barrels on the main turret. Are people counting those things as part of his height? Why? So if I wear a hat with 5 foot-long horns, I'm 11 feet tall? Hah. The huge size is the main reason I bought this TF, and even though 8.5 isn't as gargantuan as I wanted it to be, Brawl still looks in-scale with the other TFs in the series.
This version of Brawl is a completely new figure, not just a super-sized Brawl Deluxe with bacon and cheese, extra pickles, hold the onions 'cuz they...[See More]
Brawl Transformers - Movie (Hasbro) - Deluxe Class Rated 3.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire From the second I saw it on the pegs, I knew Deluxe Brawl was going to be disappointing, but I bought it anyway, don't make the same mistake!
As a Deluxe figure, it's everything you can expect: Small, easy to transform, cheap ($10-$12). Problem is, Brawl is supposed to be huge, like way taller than a house, so you can see how this 5-inch version, on-par with Bumblebee, is less than satisfying! I thought maybe the detail on the figure would make-it a cool figure to have on your work-desk at least, and it is, but you can only cram so much detail onto a small figure. If you try to make a 5-inch blue whale, you are definitely going to lose a ton of detail, exactly what happened here with Brawl. Yeah, there are rivets and plates and grooves and stuff, but you can't even see them anyway...[See More]
