Ryu Street Fighter (SOTA) - Round 1 Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Ryu stands 6 inches tall in his fashionably tattered clothing. I'm still not sure what the story is behind the ragged edges, I'm guessing it's to show how simple his way of life is or to show-off his experience. I'm not entirely sold on the head sculpt, partly because it doesn't look exactly like Ryu (I'd say around 90% accurate though) and partly because the head looks a little too small. This is most likely an optical illusion created by the gigantic hands and feet, lol. Yeah, the body is the same as Ken's, even the hands are the same, meaning they're interchangable so you can give Ryu Ken's "thumbs-up" and pointing hands, hah. Ryu comes along with a set of open and fisted hands, two heads (one passive, one raging, very bi-polar!), also a white hitch-hiking laundry-bag, which is a fun...[See More]
Chun Li Capcom vs SNK 2 (Capcom) - Basic Series Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire This is the Chun Li that came in the Capcom vs SNK 2-pack, along with some other big-boobed chick. This figure, is I'm guessing, about the same scale as the new SF4 figures, only it's way more pleasing to look at than the Chun Li planned for that line, heh.
Chuns stands a skosh under 7 inches tall, making this in-scale with lots of 7-inch scale lines. This figure is ridiculously poseable, as all fighting characters should be, ideally. The pictures here should show most of the articulation, but the less obvious ones are: Ball-joint waist, ball-joint shoulders, bicep swivels, and ankles (they rock sideways, but not back and forth for some reason). The hands pop-off, so I'm guessing she's supposed to have an extra set (I got this one loose). They slip off VERY easily, there's nothing really...[See More]

Ra's al Ghul Batman - Hush (DC Direct) - Series 3 Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Ras stands at about 6.5 inches of raw sexy manhood. The chest-hair, the flowing mane, the nipples, his giant sword, all scream fertility, even the grey streaks in his hair sing of his greatness. I love the sculpt in this figure, it's slender and yet it gives the impression of brute force trying to hammer-out from underneath the surface, skin taught tightly around chiseled muscles. The stance is relaxed but it is the stance of a swordsman, always ready to leap into the fray. The face is stern, unforgiving, demanding obedience with every glare. This guy is flawlessly painted, it's unbelievable. But believably, the coolness comes at a price, the arms don't move much. They're supposed to move around because they're ball-socket joints, but they refuse to move out to his sides, the most you can...[See More]
Doc Ock Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) - Series 8 Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Figures like this is why I liked the Marvel Legends figures. Even bland dumpy designs like this classic Dr Octopus were given the works and imbued with all the articulation they could stuff into it! I mean, WOW! Even the thumbs move!
The Doc stands-in at about 5.5 inches of muscular munchkiny mass. He's short but he looks like he could definitely kick your bum. The paint and colors are basic, the green is molded in that color with some yellow-green dry-brushing and the gloves/boots/belt are painted a burnt-yellow. The head is also painted and the expression on the face is hilarious! Doc Ock is either wincing or grinning or sneezing or worse, use your imagination. The glasses are glued-on, I guess so they don't fall off while he's doing...whatever it is that expression suggests he's...[See More]
Titanium Man Iron Man - 2008 Movie (Hasbro) - Basic Series Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Don't really know much about this character, but I'm a sucker for robot-suits!
Titanium Man stands about 6-inches tall, you can make him a little taller if you pull his head up a little. I like the junkyard-design of this armor, it looks pieced-together like the Mark 1 Iron Man suit, but a little more refined. It has lots of neat gizmos and piping, even the disks in the hip-joints have engraved detail! The shoulderpads move, like the Iron Man figures, but these are held a lot more securely in-place. Unfortunately they limit arm-movement, you can't lift the arms straight out to the sides. The white/green areas are painted to look like swirling energy, the effect looks okay. Paint is neat on the whole figure, what little there is anyway, the Star and Sickle are immaculately done @_@. The...[See More]
Spider-Man 2099 Spider-Man Origins (Hasbro) - Series 1 Rated 3.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire This is a shady figure. Lol. Seriously though, this thing is creepy, just like he's supposed to be. It looks evil with that tribal-tattoo spider-skull symbol. You really shouldn't turn your back to this guy, he might suck your blood or something.
Spidey 2099 is the result of lazy/cheap Hasbro trying to re-paint old crappy figures to hopefully sell them. The hips are the biggest problem here, Spids has an old standard T-crotch. The legs are splayed-out so the feet have to be in awkward positions to hold him upright. This could have been an beautiful figure, the paint-job is phenomenally awesome!, but that stupid semi-crouching pose he's stuck in killed that dream. This fig looks good in classic Spiderman action poses, but they're limited because the knees don't bend all the way...[See More]
Lex Luthor DC Super Heroes (Mattel) - Series 4 Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire Cyber-Luthor is about 6.2 inches tall, and surprisingly, he has an orginal body sculpt, not just a stolen suit from Mr Freeze. Well, the legs are mostly the same with a few modifications, but with all the added articulation! Even the elbows bend now and there's no stupid neck-turning gimmick. Honestly, I don't ever remember seeing Luthor wear this crazy thing in the comics, I guess I'm not old enough, but I still would have bought this figure based on the design alone, it's very Apokaliptic. Everything about the suit is intricately sculpted, there are nuts and rivets and circuitry everywhere, even the skirt is eye-popping. It does restrict movement, but if you use a razor to make strategic slits along major grooves, you can make the skirt more flexible and free the legs without ruining...[See More]
Mr. Freeze (Ice Cannon) Batman - Comics (Mattel) - Series 2 Rated 3.00 stars by Henchmen4Hire Looks like this 6.5-inch version of Freeze is based on the "Batman - Mr Freeze" one-shot comic, and it's pretty nifty, magnificent sculpting, but there's no point in having so much detail if there's no paint or shading on the figure to show it off. The fig is just dark-blue with some silver bits and some strategic fine white spray to simulate frost (doesn't work too well). What I really don't understand is why Mattel decided to not let his head move separately from the body. In other words, why did they spend the money to install some crazy mechanism in Freeze's body instead of just making the neck a simple swivel-joint? Whatever direction the feet point, that's where the head faces, it does make for natural posing, but we can do that ourselves, just as easily, without annoying gimmicks....[See More]
Killer Croc Batman - Comics (Mattel) - Series 3 Rated 3.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire This version of Killer Croc is a bit under 6.5 inches but would be taller if his knees could out-stretch. It looks pretty cool though! Looks like mini-Godzilla, all evil and junk. The sculpt is awesome, the skin-texture is almost realistic, the odd shading and lack of paint knocks it down into the cartoonish category. The thing that irks me about this figure is that I'm almost sure the lack of articulation is due to the figure having a silly action-feature. When the left arm moves up and down, the jaw does too. If the arm had more articulation, some kid would easily yank too hard and rip the arm's peg off, so they made the arm one solid piece. Ugh. The figure has a long-bum tail, too long! I bought mine loose and can't even imagine how this fit in the package! Was the tail a separate...[See More]
Aquaman, King of Atlantis (Short Hair) DC Universe Classics (Mattel) - Wave 2 Rated 4.50 stars by Henchmen4Hire The JLU cartoons are the versions of characters that I like the most it seems. I think it's because there's aren't like 10 side-stories to each character like in comics, each story portraying them with a different attitude and different ideals. JLU Aquaman is a badass. He's got the sweet flowing mane, he's bare-chested, has a hook for a hand, and blows shoot up with a trident when he's pissed-off. And he has a hot red-headed wife. Aquaman is awesome.
I don't usually like the old costumes because they look stupid, basically. So a lot of the figures being made for DCUC are hit-and-miss for me. This Aquaman costume isn't my favorite, but I like it. I like all the colors and scale-armor is always cool. Aquaman stands about 6.2 inches, he has short water-swept hair, which makes sense over the...[See More]
