Faramir (Sword Weilding) Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Series 1 Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor This figure of Faramir, son of Denethor and younger brother of Boromir, is a good rendition of the character. He comes with all the accessories you could want: his long bow some arrows and his sword, and the likeness is pretty decent. The figure is probably a bit too tanned but otherwise there isn’t much wrong with this figure. A removable hood would be an idea to make for him if you have spare parts or know where you could get one, but other than that it’s articulation is good and his action feature of slashing with his sword arm isn’t too bad or inhibiting. Other figures of Faramir probably look more like him but I think this one just requires a hair paint and maybe a lighter flesh tone paint job....[See More]
Easterling Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Series 1 Rated 4.50 stars by Deaditor This is a highly detailed figure with decent articulation and I own 4 of them and turned one into the second in command of the Nazgul: Khamul The Black Easterling. So obviously I like it. The Easterling comes with a spear and shield as typical of their design but can only hold weapons in his right hand whilst the left is open, so no duel wielding spear action like in the ps2 video games. The only thing that’s missing is a sword which would have been nice to have as the AOME version had one and these spears aren’t the best in posing. I think this is a really good figure nonetheless although I did repaint mine to have a more shinier gold colour as there was paint chipping and the colour was a bit yellowish before....[See More]
Elven Archer vs. Berserker Uruk-Hai Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Multi-Packs Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor The only way to get the Elven Archer at Helms deep which people obviously want to army build. The archer is basically the same as the Haldir figure just with a different paint job, headsculpt and sword. So you get a bow that can be loaded with arrows and fired using the button at the back to pull back the arm and he holds his sword fine but articulation is limited due to this and the arms have a tendency to break. The beserker Uruk-has looks intimidating and comes with a removable helmet and his large pickaxe blade style cleaver. The helmet strap tends to break when you take the helmet off though and this figure relies on an Acton feature where’s big button is in its back which when pressed he raises his weapon above his head and slams down to attack when released. Overal not figures are...[See More]
Treebeard Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Large Electronic Figures Rated 4.50 stars by Deaditor A truly awesome part of my collection that I’m so glad they took the time to make. Treebeard is huge and therefore fits the scale of the figures and can hold Merry or Pippin or they can sit on treebeard like they do in the film! Treebeard is well articulated but due to this certain joints are fragile and therefore care must be taken. Also as his arms are heavy thy tend to hand down so posing can be difficult. His eyes light up and he says phrases from the film, though I’m convinced they used early voice capturing from the editing room as when he says: I told Gandalf I would keep you safe and safe is where il keep you” he says it reasonably fast and angrily or grumpily instead of eongsting his sentence and breathing. Not that this is an issue it’s just an interesting thought. As it is,...[See More]
Totally agree, it's a Excellent figure! A must for any LOTR Collector! I lucked out and bought a bundle of around 25 LOTR characters for $40 and Treebeard was one of them and he was in perfect condition.
That’s how I got mine haha, bundle of pointless figures that I sold most of and a decent treebeard around £30 for the lot I think, £10 postage but still damn good deal!
Heroes of Middle Earth Gift Pack Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Gift Packs Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor Obviously there are a lot of repacks and multipacks in general but this was one of my favourites when I got as a kid and unlike other Aragorn Legolas and Gimli multipacks this ones one of the only all characters correctly attired ones timeline wise as these 3 are in their Helms deep gear. Gimli is a standard Gimli with his double headed axe throwing axes and walking axe as well as a vinyl Elven cape which isn’t the best and he is limited in articulation due to his squeezing legs to throw and axe loaded in his hand feature. Legolas comes with his bownif tr galadrim, two daggers, arrows and a Rohan sword for when he rides out at the end. This figure is fine but is a bit too tall and has not he best possibly one if the worst headsculpt sand hair sculpts that hangs backwards. Also again I’m...[See More]
Sharku & Warg Beast Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Deluxe Horse & Riders Rated 4.90 stars by Deaditor In my opinion there is nothing wrong with this figure it’s pratcislly perfect except for the rubber legs and possibly could do with a few more spots of articulation but for what we get which is a highly detailed pair of figures there’s very little wrong. Sharku the leader of the Warg riders comes with a Warg which people buy in bulk and a knife he uses which when a button pressed on his back is pushed is raised in his hand arm and released to reliever a cutting blow. He sits on the Warg perfectly and they sculpted some fur on the wargs mane up to allow Sharku to grip it well and stay on. Great for display but a shame it’s the only way to get the Warg as you end up with several of the same figure and trying to sell Sharku digit the Warg is harder so you need up with an army of figures not...[See More]
Gandalf the White & Shadowfax Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Deluxe Horse & Riders Rated 4.50 stars by Deaditor Arguably the best Gandalf Figure due to the softgoods lower robe or skirt and the better design of the headsculpt on this figure too. Due to the action feature he does have a lack of articulation in his right arm and can only move it front to back and the elbow joint also which is part of the mechanism. The rubber legs aren’t great also. Shadowfax is perfect and has the same action feature as other horses that when you press a button on his side his front hooves trot and his neck is rubber to hide the fact that it’s articulated. Gandalf comes with Glamdring the sword and his staff as well as an over poncho robe that is removable and softgoods also. So overall it’s more detailed than the other figures and with a brnof tweaking you can make this a more articulated figure as I have done in...[See More]
Aragorn & Brego (Blue Box Reissue) Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Deluxe Horse & Riders Rated 4.50 stars by Deaditor Aragorn and Brego is a really decent horse and rider figure set. As much as I’m not a fan of rubber legs it doesn’t really matter too much with this one and he comes with a cool overcoat softgoods and Elven cape as well. The coat only covers the torso it’s not got sleeves but looks fine. And u til recently I believed this figure had the best likeness for this character. The articulation is a bit basic and the left arm especially having a single elbow joint and shoulder swivel likely due to the action feature button for a chopping attack. He doesn’t come with a dagger on his belt which means you would have to add one on. Brego is designed really well and looks the part. As typical with all the Toybiz horses Brego has a rubber head to allow movement to look natural and has the trotting feet...[See More]
Twilight Ringwraith Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring (Toy Biz) - Series 4 Rated 3.00 stars by Deaditor When Frodo puts the One Ring on in front of five Nazgul including the Witch King, he doesn’t disappear from their sight and he sees them in their true form. The design of this is cool, as a figure though not so much. Using a funky colour pallet of blue white silver and greys this figures colourstion looks a bit silly to achieve the desired effect Toybiz were obviously going for. The articulation leaves much to be desired also being covered in large plastic robes that look silly unless hanging down. The action feature is once again stabbing with the morgul blade, however this time the blade is less goofy looking compared to the witch king figures retractable one, but his weapons are softer and warp easily. So this figure has good sculpting, funky but intentional paint apps, bad...[See More]
Moria Orc Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring (Toy Biz) - Series 4 Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor Another decent figure for the forces of evil. It’s pretty much perfect in my opinion though there are some issues I’m sure others would have with it namely the articulation. Like in the movie the figure stands in a squated position which for this figure is permanent as there is no knee articulation. This isn’t a problem necessarily as they obviously stand like that, but if one were to pose a Goblin in a leaping slash I suppose this would be problematic. The “Moria Orc” or Goblin comes with a removable helmet, sword and shield and all of them fit well on the figure and look detailed. I really love how weta’s team designed these goblins and how every culture is explored in detail but not only the forces of good but evil as well continued into the hobbit films rather than just reusing these...[See More]
