Perhaps one of the strangest aliens Starfleet has ever encountered, Dr. Soran first became known to the Federation when the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-B, on its inaugural voyage, rescued the doctor along with other aliens, including Guinan. It is assumed they are both from the same race, the El Aurians, who were nearly alien-cleansed by the Borg in the late 23rd century. The doctor next came into contact with the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D, under the captaincy of Jean-Luc Picard. Guinan, hostess of the Ten-Forward lounged, had an unsetting premonition when she met Dr. Soran. She alerted Captain Picard of Dr. Soran's imminent danger and noted that her feeling may have been caused by the doctor's association with the Nexus Ribbon incident many years ago. Soran has escaped and is considered a threat to the Federation. He may also be in collaboration with the Klingon conspirators B'Etor and Lursa.
