Eitri, the esteemed King of the Dwarves of Nidavellir, was renowned as a master forger and skilled weapon-maker, credited with crafting some of the most formidable weapons within the Nine Worlds.

During a visit to Asgard by the New Mutants, Sam Guthrie formed a close bond with Eitri and his daughter, eventually being embraced as a cherished member of the dwarven community, regarded as Eitri's own kin.

When Hela, the ruler of the underworld, seized control of the Valkyries and sought to eliminate Odin during his slumber, Eitri rallied his fellow Dwarves to launch an assault on Hela's fortress. Initially, Eitri's forces found themselves in conflict with the New Mutants, but Eitri swiftly intervened, recognizing their potential as allies. Together, they engaged in a fierce battle against Hela's stronghold.

Unfortunately, Eitri fell into Hela's clutches and was coerced into forging a lethal sword, under the threat of harm to his daughter and the New Mutants. Resourcefully, Eitri cunningly introduced a flaw into the weapon. Following their liberation of Eitri, he joined forces with the New Mutants, uniting against the formidable Danielle Moonstar, who had become possessed by Hela. In a critical moment, Eitri exploited the sword's vulnerability, allowing Sam to strike it precisely and shatter Hela's nefarious plan.
