Hannibal is one of several clones of Serpentor made by Dr Mindbender, all of them named after the conquerors whose DNA was used to create Serpentor. However, while the other clones were children, Hannibal was a teenager. After the other clones were found by the US government and given to adoptive families, Hannibal kidnapped his "brothers" to form part of the Coil.
