From their underground home in the sewers of New York City, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fight petty criminals, evil masterminds and even aliens. Trained by their sensei, Master Splinter, in the art of Ninjutsu, these anthropomorphic heroes are skilled ninja warriors. Though their activities remain unknown to society, they defend humanity from the dangers of the underworld.

Raphael is known as the 'dark' one, more pessimistic and skeptical than his brothers though he prefers to think of himself as a realist. His weapn of choice is a pair of sai, which he wields with great skill and precision. While Raphael is often short-tempered, he rarely strikes the first blow, preferring instead to have the final word.
